News from SKYVIEW Baptist Church
Alvin, Texas -Week of August 9-16, 2008
| Last Sunday we were thrilled to have TORI in our church service. We had a FULL house Sunday too! God is sending us lots of visitors and we are excited about what HE is doing at Skyview. Even the business meetings are lots of fun! I opted to miss out since it was Tori's last night with us. We had a nice walk around the park and I enjoyed leisurely talking with her. That's something difficult to do sometimes with a 14 year old HAHA!. Phil Meyer's daughter from Oklahoma and grand daughter visited Sunday. Another couple came from the neighborhood too! | ![]() |

Everyone is enjoying having Gavin back with us. He was even able to come to the BUSINESS meeting Sunday night! He always has the funniest stories to tell and the folks don't feel like they've been to church if GAVIN hasn't done his announcements! We are thrilled that he is recovering nicely and will be back on his feet real soon. Lots of love and prayers have been sent up to heaven on his behalf! |
| This picture was taken in our old building on Gordon Street of Pat and Rosa (mother and daughter) one Sunday singing a special music. Rosa's grand daughter (Pat's daughter) Angie has been diagnosed with cancer. She has been through a stem cell transplant that was unsuccessful. She is undergoing her second one at this moment. She is a young woman with a 5 year old son who was born blind. It's been very difficult for the entire family, including Pat's other daughter Shelly who has been donating the stem cells. Pat will be working out of the country for the next 3 weeks which makes it even more difficult for Rosa Please keep this family in your prayers. They would appreciate it so very much. | ![]() |

I didn't have time to paint while Tori was here but this week I did manage to work one in! I loved to see the cherry blossoms and the cherry trees in Washington State.I have spent the week organizing some photos and when I came across a photograph of this seen I just had a desire to paint it! I could imagine walking down this path, the crisp spring air (in Washington) and the turquoise sky (I changed that from the photo which had a gray sky.) When I paint I feel myself step inside the picture and away from the stress of the day. It's something that I am finding great joy in doing. |
